2nd Annual St. Albans Raid Half Marathon
September 21, 2014 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Run Like Bandits through Downtown St. Albans!
A volley of gunfire signals a throng of mask-wearing runners to hit the streets, running the same route the bandits took in October1864 after robbing the St. Albans Bank, the Franklin County Bank and First National Bank during the Raid on St. Albans.
The race route is a traditional 13.1 mile half marathon that begins just outside the first bank looted by the Confederate gang on Main Street in downtown St. Albans. Runners head out of downtown St. Albans and turn onto the historic Rail Trail. At the 6.55 mile marker, the runners turn around and head back to the downtown finish line for food, celebration and awards.
The trail is scenic, mostly gravel, and gently rolling.
Ample shade, with some sunny stretches. Open to runners and 2-person relay teams.
